i'm typically not one for pledges, but i am one for play. today i will make a pledge - to play. if i'm able to get my 2wd car without snow-tires through all the fresh powder, my play may be as simple as a yoga class in town. otherwise, i'll have to be a little more creative later. yes, this blogging is somewhat like playing. writing my book is a way to play often. when i am not laid off from my recent wilderness guiding job, that work can be seen as play, at least sometimes. from a certain perspective, much of what i do is play. i call that the fucking serious effect. i describe it in general terms below.
if i am serious, just serious, then i will be tense, stressed, and dull. i'll be out to prove stuff, be angry when others don't believe or follow me, and maybe get my kicks from slapping people around.
if i am fucking serious, i will proceed with truth and honesty in mind, cause i am fucking serious.
i will also proceed with a smile on my face and a decent amount of not giving a fuck if you care/believe/follow anything i say or do.
Louis XVI was guillotined today in 1793. i pledge to continue to stick my head out and point some recognition at whatever i deem necessary. why wouldn't i, being fucking serious and all?
