for me, it is better. better said, i am well. very well. because i've gone forward - selfishly! :) - and put myself in places i could be well, while continuing to improve my thinking, my actions, etc. for sometime now, my philosophy has been "be well." i believe there is much contained in that, and i reflect on it often. i've felt strong earlier in my life, times when i was not very strong. now, i am. others are not yet there - emotionally, mentally, spiritually, etc.
i read a bunch of dan savage today. his columns led me to a newer project of his, the it gets better project, which can be found at www.itgetsbetter.org
when i posted a link to this cause on my fb page, and had 2 friends sign up for the cause within minutes of me posting it, i knew i needed to go deeper on this issue, rather than continuing to swig organic wine while watching a movie, temporarily putting more meaningful issues out of mind.
10,000 years of "civilization," and we're rolling back the clock on issues regarding people merely being who and what they are. see in this link, which is sweet

this kids well spoken words regarding respect for all peoples did not mean much - iowa approved a constitutional ban on gay marriage, civil unions and domestic partnerships - it passed the Iowa House Tuesday afternoon 62-37
that's the world we live in. the world we help create. in some ways, so do i. through supporting our systems of injustice and disrespect for most.
i envision a much better, a much weller world, in the book i'm writing. a world where heteros and homos and tg's and pansexuals (that's the closest label we've come up with that fits for me :) ) truly have equality and power within the system.
outside of the system, politics, agendas, etc - i think we all do have power. grand power comes from inside, and i think it's limitless. it can also be scary to look within. deep within. so i understand needing projects like the it gets better project. fellowship, people who relate to us, and friends - they are great assets. so is having someone to talk with. and an outlet of some type.
anybody need an outlet? just because we are ruining our world with the systems we've created, that does not mean the end is nigh. not as long as people like me live. and we are all like me
