i celebrated artistic beauty while the town celebrated independence from spain and other overlords

the work of local artists that will probably never be displayed like the work below that i happened upon and into
the lighting system might be the best art in this art museum

this mother of a mural was outside of the museum

"yeah, i'm wearing a tie.  you got a problem with that?"

the natural seems to be celebrated more than the spanish heritage

celebrated much more

this artist was pretty sweet

depiction of typical costa rican homes

so, there's no subway here.  def no red line.  but there is in my home town, so i had to snap a pic out of recognition respect

leaving the museum.  rain clouds.  must now be afternoon in costa rica

got up and out of my computer - i'd found a computer repair shop in cartago.  they fixed it in 24 hrs for rather cheap all in all.  happened to take my first bus ride on independence day.  glad it worked out that way, seeing a bigger city, getting computer help, taking a nice bus ride through the mountains, seeing lots of celebrating centered around parades and not drinking n such.  and i bought 9 red peppers at a large farmer's market for $1.  yeah
