i am in panama right this typing second. thought i'd kick out a brief blog before i departed. on public computer. my laptop does not enjoy connecting to the net much these days, which can and maybe will and alreay has changed some of the ways i communicate with and operate in this world.
i love the area i am in. so beautiful. so beautiful i had to also break away, because there is some serious unhinged crazy there. my anger and frustrations along with many fresh cuts and burns were directing me away for the weekend. maybe 1st and 2nd degree burns on my toes from a reaction to a chemical compound i was tossing on the cement to make it drier and less slippery to walk and or drive on. facial abrasions from non-corrosive paint that i had inadvertently painted on myself in a war paint type way because of the angle of painting. i chose to not go with paint thinner in and around the eyes and used an abrasive brush to scrape off the paint and a bunch of skin that still hasn't healed. i got another full day before i begin working again. the big left toe is the worst, but it'll get well soon.
i kinda got well by meeting and hanging with another american on a border run here in panama as well as a guy native to the san blas islands that does work here at the hostel and in many places. he's an artist and constructor and overall cool guy. the other guy, will, is young, and entrepreneur, and a legitimate chess master.
we met within minutes of me arriving here. hung. partied. went out for more partying. slept some. went off to the panamanian coast and ate well and played in the playa. the beach. the sand and sun and surf were wonderful. a beach with people - maybe 80 - was also refreshing, after being on a beach daily where i may see 1 or 2 people that i don't work with...and much more coarse sand, more like very small pebbles. here it was a lot of sand and some pebbles.
2 dollar chilean wine in a box after the beach coupled with a 1/2 a chicken in a garlic sauce and some yucca fries for 2 or 3 bucks. yeah, panama prices are tough to beat. lovely area. maybe i will stay here and live here longer going forward. i am leaving in a few minutes. i will not be taking over the running of this hostel, at least right away...that was a secondary reason for arriving here. seriously - bambu hostel in david - it's very excellent. spacious. inviting. safe. i played the trust game and left behind my passport and computer and leather hat and this stuff was out in the open and or easy to access. i left it and went to the beach. returned maybe 10 hrs later. all was well. as it made sense it would be. also, my san blas friend fabio constructed the bambu hut here. and a couple other things on the premises.
maybe many of my old wounds won't heal in the ways i've been accustomed to wounds healing in the past. some recent injuries linger. that may be the way of things for now on. i dunno. i accept that possibility.
to whomever takes time out of there lives to read this and other writings of mine, to look at my pics, etc - thank you. appreciated. loved. feel free to chat me up in conversation.
